I think it’s silly to say that Spain Spanish is canonical, though. Like, says who? Spanish people? Spanish in Spain is a dialect just like any other Spanish-speaking country. Imo it makes sense to teach the dialect that learners are most likely to encounter based on their geographic location, with context about the other dialects.

I’m on here obviously, but still using Reddit until Relay croaks. After that I’m not going to violently l completely quit reddit but without being able to use Relay I’ll be using it a lot less, not as a regular contributor. It’ll be like how often I use Facebook now compared to how I used it a few years ago.

Imo this gets to the crux of how “people don’t want to work” is such horseshit. People don’t mind, or even like working to share knowledge and build community. And when they have the capacity and free time, they’ll do it for no pay.

People don’t want to work at something that feels like it makes no difference in their world or the world, when they’re not getting treated well or paid enough. They’ll work at things that deserve it in their life.
