Cool anecdote.
Cool anecdote.
Which is why “rurality” is a synonym for modernity, and why “rural electricity/telephone/internet access” reminds you of a high tech data center. Ok.
Yeah seriously, one less blowhard on blowhard isle.

Demented old man who smells of onions and dog breath has ridiculous opinions about the world. News at 11.
If the only person who could be convicted of it should be immune from it, then it shouldn’t be a crime. That argument is, in its face, absurd, since the people who crafted the law certainly imagined someone should be subject to it.
I don’t think the poor design is on purpose. They just literally don’t know what they’re doing. It’s not like they could have chosen from the centuries of DEI curriculum work, and they chose stupid systems out of malice. They’re making it up on the spot. And it’s poorly designed, hamfisted and patronizing. So let it die.
I mean, I’d record songs off the radio on tape and make my own mix tapes and trade them with friends. I’d buy CDs and rip them to MP3s, made custom mix CDs, and CDRs full of 700 mb of mp3s. I owned several MP3 players before the iPod, and since. People listened to music in thousands of ways before Spotify, and will after.
Well you know how before Spotify, people used to listen to music from their favorite artists? Spotify made it so that you could listen to music from your favorite artists via a middleman.

I can’t recall a time in history before this last 10 hellish years where I’ve been required to watch ads. If CBS had required that I have some sort of pressure plate to make sure my ass was in the seat during the ad breaks they’d be getting hate too. They can serve all the ads they want, I can choose to watch them. They’re violating the 2nd part of it and incurring the hostility that they should. Everything is turning into a timeshare presentation.
Yeah, I don’t think he’s going to get much of a defense given the only people who know who he is are over-the-top obsessed with him. I mainly know him as just another (Anthony) wiener in the soup making everything worse.
Cool, great discussion. Glad we had it.
yeah and I provided a range of behaviors from a literal pharaoh to Jonas Salk. What the fuck is up with everyone’s need to jump in with their WELL ACKTUALLY shit
You can certainly take that interpretation, but it had nothing to do with hitting quarterly profit goals. My point is humans create, build and make things and have for millennia before capitalism and profit existed as a motive. The idea that humans wouldn’t do anything if not for the invisible hand of the market is a modern fiction. The idea that we wouldn’t invent life saving drugs without the incentive to make a buck is absurd.
I have a 5 year old iphone, it’s great. I can’t imagine it’s worth anything, just noting it works for every day use. You don’t need a new phone at all for anything.
ETA: I just NFC-charged my local transit card with my ancient-ass iphone the other day which is a thing I didn’t honestly know it could do yesterday. I’m not trolling, I don’t know what has been offered in the last 5 years on either platform that is at all required to use a phone, as long as Apple continues to support the phone with OS updates.
Oh honey. Have you never heard of Jonas Salk? Do you think the pyramids were built for profit? Humans have done things for reasons other than profit. You’ve been brainwashed or are just making ridiculous statements.
“Let them fly private.”
Are they still running troll farms? Do they do it from their phones on the front or something?
It’s like headline madlibs.
