Found out after some swearing, trial and error that re-attaching the knob was actually quite easy!
Now that’s Mildly Infuriating! ;-)
Annihilation sounds a very good shout.
One of my favourite things on Reddit were the helping subs where you could describe something, ot play a short clip if you had it, and have everyone try to identify it for you. What’s That Song was my favourite, wasted hours in there trying to ID tunes!
There is a Help Me Find Lemmy community, but it’s pretty dead, sadly.
When you say its eye is blue, but yellow in the movie, where is it blue? A book, a comic, something else?
Oh ok, good idea :-)
Ah cool, thanks. I’ve got an old laptop that I was thinking of installing 11 on so could try that out. Cheers mate :-)
Not the way I want it, no. It’s hard to describe, but believe me, I’ve tried with taskbar pinning, and it doesn’t work for me at all.
In short, no Quick Launch toolbar, no Win 11 for me. Shame as I’d like to try it but the QL is a deal-breaker.
Ooh, saving this for later. I’m gradually reclaiming all our books from storage and this sounds very handy. Thanks for the tip!
Oh ok, it’s usually a few minutes over the course of a week or so, so I guess it’s not that! :-)
Huh, now that is interesting - our microwave’s clock continually edges forward until it’s a few minutes out from the oven clock right next to it. I wonder if that’s why. I’m in the UK and as far as I know, all our appliances are too, but maybe not?
Same, working fine for me - details here in case it helps:

IIRC, Windows key and Up arrow will maximize it. Not aware of a way to snap a window to the top without it changing size. Would be pretty cool.
You might want to check out Windows PowerToys and specifically Fancy Zones. You can create your own areas to snap windows into. Still not quite what you’re looking for but might provide an alternative approach.
Accessibility I think :-)
That’s the nightmare of AI as far as I’m concerned. Endlessly revising movies and TV away from what was originally created by the filmmakers.
Definitely. I remember hearing about The Wire being released in a 16:9 format, even though it was shot and broadcast in 4:3, and how that potentially messes up some of the shot framing.
They did I by cropping from top and bottom rather than AI infilling, but the issue is the same.
IIRC, David Simon wrote a really interesting piece about how they did it but did everything they could to try and stay true to Robert Colesberry’s carefully planned framing, as they were aware that had it been intended for 16:9 he’d have framed things differently.
Personally I wish they had kept it at 4:3 and only released it in a higher resolution. Glad I still have my old 4:3 DVDs.
“It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen fourteen”
While that’s true, I do think that you get a decent number of questions on here that people might not be confident enough to ask on AskLemmy, so it still serves its purpose in that sense.
