I missed that update! This is great news!
I missed that update! This is great news!
I’m in the (gradual) process of switching all my stuff from Gmail and Google to Proton mail. I really like the mail client and Proton Drive works better on my computers than Google Drive did, but Proton Drive doesn’t back up my phone yet and I wish they had an office suite like Google does. I don’t put anything important or private on Google docs, but it’s useful to be able to access my textbook notes from any of my computers. I haven’t used the password manager because I’m using Bitwarden, which I really like.
I would love to consider getting an electric car whenever I can afford a new(er) vehicle. But there’s no way my landlord will let me run an extension cord from my 3rd story apartment around the building and around the pond between my building and the parking lot. It’s sad that an EV would be so great, but its really a mark of privilege to own both in initial affordability and just having the place to park and charge one. Not that it matters, I can’t afford anything other than my 24 year old Honda.
My very conservative mother (who I no longer speak to) once got mad at Amazon, as in Amazon.com the capitalist empire, and said that they were “the most communist thing ever.” Communists are whoever makes you mad or whoever the alt right media claims they are. Or something like that.
When I worked EMS I did 7 days/80 hours/7 days off. A lot of people hated it but I loved it. Worked 80 hours (plus some for OT getting held over for calls) in 7 days, then had the next 7 days off. Rotated every 2 weeks. By the 7th day I’d be tired and ready to be done, but it really wasn’t too terrible. I worked 2 8 hour shifts, 4 12 hour shifts, and finished with a 16 hour shift. Usually picked up 2-10 hours of OT on average every rotation from getting dispatched out on 911 calls at the end of the day before relief showed up, which always was an annoying end to the day, or from taking early 911 calls for the previous shift if I was there early so that they didn’t have to stay over. I also got 160 hours combined PTO/sick to start, so every year I’d burn 80 of those hours on a 7 day rotation and end up with a 3 week chunk of time away from work. Heaven for an American wage slave like myself.
Thus the true meaning behind the phrase boys will be boys
Hanging at dawn then?
I try to use Firefox and Librewolf as much as I can, but the fact is that I’m a student and the websites my school uses for certain classes do not work on Firefox/Librewolf. I’ve also run into issues with certain other websites not running right and then when I switch to a chromium browser everything is fine. I don’t have the knowledge to properly troubleshoot if the problem is on my end or just a shitty website, so it’s just easier to use Brave when I need it.
Oh my goodness! Emily needs all the kisses!!!
I will vote Charlotte for president! She can have all the treats! A beautiful girl like her deserves them!
Wow, this is interesting! I really need to stop brushing it off and actually do something about it, but it’s just so much easier to ignore things sometimes :)
I hope you have a long, healthy life!
Ugh, that sucks. I suspect I have some underlying condition because whenever I actually stop being lazy and do cardio like running I’ll cough for days afterwards. I love running and used to run almost daily but got sick of constantly having a runner’s cough. But all my medical checkups have been great and I feel like if I complain about the fact that when I get sick it takes forever to recover and cough when I exercise it’s going to be too vague of a complaint for them to do anything about or care.
I’m an otherwise pretty healthy person who gets knocked out by anything respiratory. My entire life, ever since I was a kid, if I get a cold, the flu, anything, it’s going to be weeks to months of feeling terrible. I always hated how casual everyone around me was with their illness, like oh, it’s just a cold, yeah, well that cold is going to have me unable to sleep for the next 2 weeks and feeling generally awful for at least the next 2 after that, so please wash your hands after you sneeze on them. Twice now I’ve had the flu and taken over 4 months to recover and stop feeling like my lungs were filling with fluid every time I did any type of exercise.
We missed our chance to all get together and collectively start acting like zombies as soon as the alert fired.
Then again… all of these lunatics have guns and are just dying for an excuse to start blasting. I’d rather not get shot trolling the crazies.
When I was a kid my mom used to get American cheese sliced behind the deli counter all the time and they always gave us the slices in a stack and it never combined.
I can’t stand American cheese, nasty fake stuff, but I got cheddar cheese slices behind the deli the other week for the first time in awhile. Instead of just slicing it and giving it to me in a bag like every other time in my life, they individually wrapped every slice in a thin plastic. I got home and was like what in the plastic hell is this? So wasteful and it was a real PITA unwrapping it all.
Agreed! I’m a boring person (that’s why I’m on social media)
I used to work for a boss who would proudly say shit to my face like “it’s my job to get the most out of you for the least amount of money”. I used to respond by flat out refusing to do work saying “you’re paying me $12/hr, you’re getting $12/hr worth of work from me. You want me to work harder? Give me a raise.” We were understaffed and they refused to hire enough people to do the work (our work load more than tripled and they refused to hire any additional staff. Another location had more staff and way less work coming in daily). When my boss started regularly panicking that the work was never done at the end of the day and his ass was going to get handed to him by corporate I was like “huh, that sucks for you, I’m done at 5 and don’t give a shit. Maybe you should hire a few extra people like we keep asking”
Idk, is there universal Healthcare in Tamriel? Lol but I guess I wouldn’t have any money because I’d have died early on, so I’d still be better off without rent to pay :)
My husband and I had a conversation about this once. Why do we always end up rich with multiple houses in video games, when we’re broke AF in real life? Why can’t we transfer some of that into the real world. Then we realized the answer. Crime. We play criminals in video games. Skyrim? I’ll have 300,000 gold and 6 houses by level 40. I’ll also have robbed every single house, every NPC, and shop in every hold. Damned morals keeping me from doing that in the real world.
About a month ago I was at the gas station filling up my 24 year old clunker when a homeless guy came up and asked if I would give him enough money for a coffee. I was going to lie and say I didn’t have cash on me, but it occurred to me that I’m one bad day from being in his shoes every moment, so I checked the emergency stash I kept in my car and on impulse just gave him the whole pile of it. Idk how much it was, not a ton, but a handful of ones and maybe a $5 or a $10. And yeah, a week ago, that bad day happened. My husband dumped me via text message, and now I’m very, very close to homelessness in the next few weeks or months if I can’t find a place to go soon. It’s not always drugs, or addiction, or laziness. Sometimes it’s making what look like good decisions and just getting fucked over.
