I’ve spoken with some of these Republicans. What I’ve described is what they themselves have said of themselves and their colleagues.

Some of these folks have a lot of self loathing. Needing food stamps isn’t shameful but for many of these folks it is and they hate themselves and their brethren as a result of it.

It’s mind blowing how republicans are able to convince people to vote against their own self interests so voraciously.

Many republicans, I think it’s most personally, think republicans are trash. They think they themselves are trash.

If you are in the military and know you are trash; think most of your comrades are trash; think most humans are trash, then why wouldn’t you support the overthrow of the government?

Trump isn’t insulting these people when he insults the troops. He’s saying what they already believe about themselves.

I’d be happy if the show could be redone with modern technology. The CGI that was cutting edge when B5 first aired now looks very dated and I think it’s hard for younger prospective fans to get into the visuals.

I think the correct phrase should be “We can’t govern”.

This article isn’t about nothing. I don’t have a dog in this fight but I do know that there are types of discrimination that aren’t clear from the outside looking in. California in particular has a bunch of newly emigrated Indian residents that may be brining over their old prejudices to the state.

I’m guessing you can’t tell which job applicants are Dalits are which aren’t just from the names of the applicants. There are plenty of people in positions of power who can.

I don’t know what he spends it on but Trump seems to spend millions every weekend too. I’m not convinced he’s out ahead because of these donations he’s getting at this point.

There’s always been Linux distros that targeted Mac hardware. There’s got to be something like that for chromebooks, right?

No one can stand him? For a lot of us he’s more the face of the Republicans than McCarthy or McConnell

Be careful about praising The Orville the way you are to people who remember TNG very fondly. It apes TNG very closely but also has more than its fair share of Mcfarlane’s Family Guy humor which isn’t for everyone and definitely doesn’t jibe with Trek.

The episode where we first meet the Krill has Lt. Malloy laughing maniacally and constantly at the fact that the Krill’s god is named Avis. This just isn’t that funny and breaks immersion.

McFarlane himself admits this episode was very juvenile and the show gets quite a bit better once he decides to stop going after Family Guy style jokes. Many people won’t watch enough episodes to see the show is worth a chance.

Were you alive during Nixon? I was a baby but I interacted with people Trump’s age when I was a child. I don’t know if it’s the lead in the air back then or what but more than half of all adults seemed terminally stupid. I was a child and I thought they were stupid.

We’ve clearly got a lot of people who think Trump’s smart today but Trump’s brand of gibberish was just considered “common sense” in the 80s. Social media hasn’t made us dumber, it’s just allowed the dumbest people to find each other more easily.

Regarding us all sharing the same facts when Nixon was president, that’s just not true. People lived in a very divided America then as well. Social media and the refinement of propaganda techniques does make things seem more hopeless today but the same Roger Stone who’s fucking things up today was around back then. He was doing exactly what he’s doing today back then.
