The software used to load data and debug the F-35 fighter jet.
Pretty big problem for 16 countries if that isn’t secure… closed source. So much s you can’t even run tests against the device for loading data to the jet live. It’s a problem to sort out, but it’s an example of where highly important communication protocols are not open source and trusted by the governments of many countries.
If their particular standard here was open source, ok, but they didn’t do anything to assure the version they inspected would be the only version used. In fact every release from that basement pair of programmers could inadvertently have a flaw in it, which this committee would not be reviewing in the code base for its members of parliament.

These aren’t in the same budget category. The tax dollars spent on GWOT had significant effect in the United States ability to borrow as a government due to national debt increases, but that impact is seen directly in the increasing yearly amounts of tax revenue spent to repay that debt, not directly to inflation. Show me correlation in the first ten years of GWOT to CPI?
So let me get this right. You believe spending, as allocated in the budget for a fiscal year, in a category you do not even understand the limits of, for amounts you need to calculate in fractions of a percent of the budget, is a worthy mention of impact on inflationary pressure?
One where you improperly equate it with printing more money as a federal reserve economic control device, and assume aid = printed dollars instead of the majority of which is already existing assets in storage where packages are given dollar values for their worth?

That leaves out when the company prompting you charges an administration fee to collect part of that sum donated for their own profits.
It leaves out when they, like CVS did with the diabetes association charity collecting at checkouts, take the money as an IOU to the charity while making money out to offset loans in the near term.
It leaves out structuring of collected funds to allow a 503C arm of the corporation to have tax advantaged status while also specifically being chartered to help the for profit company that you are shopping at.
There are a variety of scummy practices employed by organizations collecting those funds and it absolutely can benefit them to do so.
