I cannot for the life of me figure out what this actually is. But congrats on building it and yay for more federated stuff!

My other account is on .world so I can use search to forcibly pull things onto at least that server (search for the original URL of the unfederated post or comment and then wait a few seconds). Sometimes doing that will also encourage whatever it was to federate more widely to more servers, but that doesn’t seem to be happening as reliably either since the upgrade 🤷‍♀️

Yup, absolutely nothing I posted from lemm.ee yesterday made it out into the wider world. In fact I’ll probably have to manually federate this comment too.

Hopefully they can get to the bottom of it. Maybe next year we need a rule about releasing anything in December when everyone’s too busy to bugfix 😅

• Good support for multiple accounts
• Easy on the eyes, which means among other stuff none of that forced solid black background stuff as it gives me a headache
• Customisable text for similar reasons to the above
• Easy to post & reply & generally interact with people (some apps make it real difficult to continue a convo from your inbox, for example)
• Basic mod capabilities
• Multi-communities are a big bonus (this is why I keep Summit installed)

Generally I prefer more features over slick looks which I think is where a lot of people go the other way. Probably depends if you post a lot or are more of a scroller. I currently have 11 apps installed so will just keep testing them all out until one wins, lol.

There’s a thread in !liftoff@lemmy.world where people are recommending their fave replacement but tbh pretty much every app gets at least one mention, which one is best probably depends on your priorities!

None of them really meet all my needs (neither did Liftoff, I had to combine it with Summit), so I’m trying to help out by testing !raccoonforlemmy@lemmy.world in the hopes that it could become my holy grail.

A couple of people have tried to get in touch with the dev to no avail. It’s already broken for users on the couple of servers that are using 0.19 so only a matter of time for the rest of us, it seems.

Bear in mind Liftoff is probably going to stop working with Lemmy 0.19 so don’t get too attached to it 😢

PeerTube allows spaces in its tags, they get stripped out at one end or the other when a video federates to Mastodon to make them compatible.

Yes! Although, I have to admit I’ve never rewatched Farscape since it was originally on, I was still in school and me and my bestie were obsessed. Kind of worried to rewatch and find it doesn’t hold up. Firefly on the other hand, totally holds up!

I’m completely with you on this, LD is clearly a hit with a lot of people and that makes me happy to see, but the show is just not for me. The characters are indeed way too hyper all the time which is tiring to watch, and I think it’s a shame because the concept and even a lot of the plots could be funny, but the characters never grow or change or become any less the absolute worst, so it’s kind of a wasted opportunity.

Anyway I’m not replying to dunk on LD. It’s a tv show and I don’t personally like it, whatever. I am replying to ask if you’ve tried The Orville.

Go with me here, because I assumed it was going to be just more of the kiddie style humour like LD. And it sort of is at first, so on my first attempt I bounced off the first episode and didn’t go back for a year. But we seem to have basically the same taste when it comes to Trek and I can honestly say The Orville turned into some of the best Trek I’ve seen. It’s got its weak points and annoying characters like anything else, but they’re a bit more like real people who change over time based on their experiences and aren’t just stuck in that typical animated show loop of being exactly the same again at the start of each new episode.

You might like it, you might not. Just a suggestion! :)

Friend of ours down in London has apparently been having issues with squirrels sneaking in from his balcony and stealing, very specifically, Toffee Crisps.

Don’t ask me any of the obvious follow-up questions there, I have no idea. But I reckon that squirrel is thriving.

Yeah it works fine, once you know that’s how it works. But I expect a lot of creators would be like me and assume the account name is just the account name, and videos will show as published by the channel name. So more of a PSA that everything gets published by your account and to be aware of that when setting things up :D
