Do not assume contemporary low-end quality would the flagship quality. Flagships like LG when they had jacks had high quality DACs—even current Sony phones are good. Adding a jack to the device means less things to dangle & put stress on the already kinda weak charging port; this takes up little room & does not affect waterproofing. Almost all other gear for consuming media has a jack, it is pretty much a conspiracy to push folks into perpetually buying Bluetooth earbuds when the batteries die.

I can’t relate tho. My laptop only has two USB4 with type-C connectors. I really wish it tad at least one type-A connection. Luckily unlike my last laptop, at least this one has a headphone jack (I guess ASUS learned from their folly & never skipped the jack on future models).

I think you could make an argument about depth & shadows being more difficult with a black background but I would question your design if those were imperative to the design.

I wrote a whole post last year about how using #000 is often preferred. It’s incredibly annoying how hard it actually is to find themes that are optimized for OLED on desktop. Mobile is less bad but often, particularly in FOSS apps, black is an option.

AGPL restricts freedoms in response to exploitation of the cloud providers. It was & still is met with criticism due to additional restrictions. If blocking that exploration is fine, what’s wrong with extending that to non-libre LLMs? What wrong with going to the root of this issue & cut out the for profits? All I want to see is that “FOSS” isn’t standardized in the way a commodity is but is free to evolve in response to these exploitations to the commons & creators/maintainers. To do that, the rules need to adapt like sports do for safety, etc.

It was usually recommended to lock to inputs anyhow with all the fetchers requiring a hash which I hated having to manually update & like the UX flakes provides (I really wish they supported more than Git & Mercurial tho). You can still have different evals tho if you point to latest.tar.zstd or other non-hashed thing like a branch where the referred to can change & it won’t reproduce.
