Could be as simple as reserving popular usernames too.
Its probably similar in other places, but where I live, between public holidays, 10 sick days a year, shutdowns over Christmas and New Years, and annual leave you will be working four day weeks and paid for five days for significantly more than half the year anyway.
Maybe Lemmy was like this at the very start and is what helped Lemmy kick off, but I think a lot of people are looking for an alternative to Reddit. I think you’re going to see a lot more people coming here for the content, not the politics of it all.
Or an even bigger impact by having fewer children.
