Or people can also install other browsers for other purposes…
Yes, I like RSS for tech news but I still prefer to read a discussion on it.
Never heard of that one before but will definitely try. Thanks
Unpopular opinion but I switched from RSS to Google News and Reddit / Lemmy for basically 2 things:
I like the Google algorithm for news (guess that’s why it’s called that) it shows relevant news, especially local. When I subscribed to local news papers’ RSS, for example, they pump a lot of articles and the relevant news were difficult to spot. It still lags behind on tech news for instance.
I switched to Reddit because of the community content: conversations. On RSS you get all the news and all that but it lacks the social aspect, people discussing an article, learning from others. This is why I’m still here.
I agree and let me add one more reason.
I don’t claim to represent all dumb people on the internet but being dumb myself, sometimes I need a clear indication that something is sarcastic, otherwise I just don’t get it.
Xiaomi phones still come with infrared, mostly used to control TVs, fans, AC units, etc.
Since we are doing a big mix of everything why not throw there Minix that resides on all Intel chips?
Why? It’s easy to use, there’s no ads, has many features, etc.
Is it only because it’s owned by a big corp?
I’m still having this issue when sorting comments by Top :(
At system level you can use AdGuard DNS. Search in the settings app for DNS and set custom DNS to dns.adguard-dns.com
On Safari you can download the AdGuard app and configure it as a content blocker.
You can use Lasim to download your profile settings and subscribed communities from Lemmy.world and then upload to your new account. You need a computer tho, it isn’t a mobile app.
I second Infinite.
I’ll check that one out.
Is Floris Board still maintained? Latest stable release was in June 2022 and latest beta in September 2022.
Their GitHub says that stable versions are released “1 release per 1-5 months” and beta “up to 1-2 releases per week”.
Hi. I’m definitely not an expert on the subject but I had a teacher in highschool who taught us about this and this is what I remember.
Communism is an utopia, is a system that goes against human nature therefore it’ll never work. It has never worked, the so called communist countries are actually socialist.
First, in communism there’s no government. You as an individual who is aware that lives in a community you do everything for the “greater good” of the community. So if you’re very good at singing and dancing but the community needs let’s say potatoes then you, by your own choice you go to the farm and produce potatoes. Now once you have all your potatoes you say:
Ok, I have a wife and a kid, that’s a family of 3 so I’ll take only 3 potatoes. My buddy Rick who has a wife and 4 children, that’s a family of 6 so he takes 6 potatoes.
Again it goes against human nature, since when we plant something we consider everything we harvested ours.
Now socialism is just one step back but a huuuuge step back where a government exists.
So a random guy comes in and say:
Hey people of the community since we are not ready just yet to give to the community from our hearts, I’ll act as a government and dictate what you do and how to distribute what you produce.
Billy I know you are very good at singing and dancing but we don’t need entertainment, we need potatoes so get your lazy ass up and go to the farm!
Billy since you have a family of 3 then you get 3 potatoes.
My cousin Rick, I know he has a family of 6 but give him 20 potatoes because I’m the government, I decide how much everyone gets.
So socialism is very prone to corruption.
There you have it. Again I’m not an expert here, everyone is welcome to correct me. I’m just regurgitating what a highschool teacher taught us.
Apparently not implemented yet. I requested the feature here: https://lemmy.world/post/2673227

So I read many times that it can store “several TBs of data” but how many exactly? 2, 3, 5, 10?
Do they know exactly? Is it possible that they write 5 TBs and when they try to read it, they can only read like 3, losing the other 2 TBs?
