  • Who said it was superjesus? It’s one of the smaller points on the long list of rusts advantages over other systems level PLs, but nonetheless notable. Especially if you consider that the feature that makes this possible is used for a ton of other useful stuff. And seriously, the boilerplate does matter, especially if you also add Ord, Hash and Debug impls. Your comparison with pictures in a noval makes no sense, since these add something valuable to the text and are easily distinguished from it. Heaps of boilerplate at a glance look just as meaningful as important sections of code, so being able to avoid it makes navigation significantly easier.

  • Isn’t it obvious? More code to skim, scroll over and maintain if something changes. If you add a struct field, your manual EQ implementation still compiles and seems to work but is wrong and will lead to bugs. Yes, solving this for 99,999% of cases with an attribute is just far superior and does make a difference (while keeping it easy to manually implement it if needed). Hash and Ord and some other traits can be implemented in a similar fashion btw…

  • Hahaha suuure. I mean that’s what the großaktionärs and their pathetic lobbyists tell you, so it has to be true, right? I mean, why would they possibly lie to you about something that makes them richer and all workers poorer?! The actual reasons why german wirtschaft suffers are not related in the slightest to Arbeitnehmerrechte. There are many reasons, here are just some of them:

    1. HUGE lack of staatliche Investitionen (that’s the main difference to the wirtschaftlich successfull states in the world). This is something that piled up during the last decades actually, because the former regierungs were even worse in this regard that the current one, basically destroying whole industries that could have had a bright economic future in this country. Instead, the current FDP dullis that run our Regierung mostly gift 39Mrd. to Unternehmen (by lowering their Steuers) which mainly benefit said Großaktionärs (who don’t spend the money so it’s not in the Wirtschaftskreislauf at all) and only lead to approx 11 Mrd. of private investments by those Unternehmen. So it would have been much more productive to invest that money directly as Regierung.

    2. Dumb as fuck decisions by EZB to raise Zinsen through the roof (because they don’t understand the difference between a temporary Energiepreis-Schock and Inflation), making private and public investments more expensive and thus hindering them.

    3. Low wages leading to low Kaufkraft in Mittelschicht, leading to very little Konsum, which in turn becomes a problem for local Wirtschaft.

    4. (Not a small point): External factors like china not buying as many cars from our zurückgebliebene Autoindustrie anymore (that completely fucked up by trying to milk their last century dampfmaschinen technology for ever, missing the anschluss)

  • 20% is a LOT. That’s probably because of the random shit that nobody ever asked for but windows is always doing in the background anyway. Building a search index, windows update (which consumes an insane amount of CPU for a completely unreasonable amount of time sometimes), other individual updater services (because there can’t be one program that updates everything because every vendor does their own proprietary bullshit to handle updates), compressing and sending all you personal data to microsoft and of course the pre-installed McAffee (on trial license) that works hard to make your system less secure (that HP probably installed for you because apperently you haven’t paid enough money for the computer, so you must pay with your patience and your privacy as well). Depending on the benchmark, the pathetic legacy file system windows uses might also play a role.
