I had that phone also, anytime anyone would see it outside they would marvel at how large it is. Now I have a fold which is even bigger when unfolded. The dell streak from what I remember feels like an s23u would be similar size to it but it was probably larger due to bezels and the aspect ratio
Hmm I’m also still using a surfacebook 2 but with windows 11 and it’s been giving me some issues like hard locks and sometimes overheating. Does the gpu work too or is that not possible? Might switch if that is supported and it does have better battery life.
Sign up for beeper and all the hosting is done for you
Just sign up for beeper they host all major bridges including imessage and then if you need additional bridges you can self host them
I use android auto and carplay and for some reason Google maps is crippled on car play. Can’t move the map around with the touchscreen or change routes easily, apple maps has those features on carplay and Google maps has those features on Android auto. I’m not sure if it’s apple trying to push apple maps and disallowing those features, but it does push me towards apple maps or just using android auto for Google maps.
I believe their other readers work with moon+ reader and other apps. I was debating getting one of the color ones and if you can deal with the slow refresh rate of eink and some apps not being optimized with page flashes etc, then it’s a good choice. Also interested in this as a beach “phone” to be able to easily bring it when it’s super bright out and have a readable display.
I feel like a big plus of it too is not requiring additional subscriptions to internet, especially to get live info. Once you reach 2-3 years of your included internet with cars then, its time for the subscriptions for internet and other services to begin. IMO most would want to avoid paying for more subscriptions when you have a perfectly good phone in your pocket that can be hooked up to do everything the car is asking you to pay for monthly. Another thing for me is being able to use your phone or phone keyboard to look stuff up, before you start driving, to find stuff much quicker rather than typing on the infotainment system. Also updates don’t rely on the car manufacturer to continue updating their system.
I feel the same way used to love hangouts, tried allo. But at this point I don’t even use rcs because although it’s “open” no third party developers can make apps for it. Using matrix with bridges via beeper is how I integrate all my chats now and makes life way easier
Do you use stock messagease? I found the old app a little ugly but the way the keyboard works is great. Haven’t used it for a bit now but was so much faster on it than any other software keyboard
