  • They get manipulated about and distracted by certain issues. The people who want power know this and exploit topics such as guns, abortion, fear of crime, racism/nationalism, sexism, economic issues and taxes. Plenty of people vote republican because they have been convinced that Democrats will take their guns, allow in too many immigrants (with the implicit idea that immigrants are bad somehow), be worse on the economy, raise taxes, let criminals get off easy, reduce the influence of Christianity, and so forth.

There’s also the decades of propaganda about socialism and communism, and against social safety nets as well as government and anything run by the government vs a private entity. So basically, because they’re not very aware or well informed and all themselves to be convinced by propaganda.

Great, do whatever you want. Just shut the fuck up about it, nobody cares.

    Then next paragraph…

I switched from Linux to macOS for a number of years and it was fucking awesome. Then my Macbook Pro became defective and I bought a PC and …

Well, okay. Great, why not write a whole article about your personal taste in software.

What do I use? Arch Linux.

    BTW

  • It’s like driving on a bus with a terrorist who insists “you have to do what I want!! Or I’ll blow up the bus!”, but they’re on the bus with their whole family who might not want to do that. Putin himself might be wacked out enough that he decides to. However, it’s been obvious for decades that the doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction is accurate, and most nuclear countries seek to maintain that as a deterrent. I don’t think the rest of the power structure in Russia would allow that to happen since it’s obvious suicide. Even if they weren’t instantly nuked by the US, France and UK, it would fuck up so many things in the world, including for Russia, that nobody would win that. I don’t think Putin wants to destroy all of civilization… he just wants Russia to regain power and be on par with the US, EU and China.

  • What they claim is to disagree whether it constituted a coup attempt. Some say “it was unsuccessful” which is of course rather a dimwitted claim. Some still insist it was merely a protest and not a coup attempt. Nobody seems to dispute that Trump was involved and encouraged it. Anyhow, like most things republicans argue, they have a preconceived result and make up nonsense to support it, and it’s very biased - imagine if it had been democrats and Obama involved in something like that? They’d still be completely losing their shit about it and they couldn’t find enough harsh things to say about the participants.

  • Where do you get “people might say mean things”? One of those reductions where someone acts like Trump being derogatory, inflammatory, thin skinned, insulting and lying is just silly little ‘mean things’? Obviously I mean that Trumps’ actions would be the same or worse, not ‘saying mean things’, though that is also significant. His inflammatory rhetoric and inconsistency does affect international relations.

Anyway, it’s hard to find a national politician in the US who doesn’t side with Israel. I agree it would be nice if Biden took a more neutral stance, but Congress are the ones who appropriate money for Israel, not the President.
