There’s nothing to bring together a bunch of congressional “Christian” neofascists faster than the prospect of seriously pissing off their fire-and-brimstone Sky Daddy who has made helping the long-prophesied land of Israel central to their salvation.
They know that if they fail to help Israel, Jesus will NOT come for them, and will instead leave them to live in the overheated, overpopulated, polluted world of dwindling resources they are creating for the rest of us. “No Rapture for you!” Jesus will proclaim, and they will be left to fry with the rest of us godless plebes on a baking, forsaken earth even before they die and get to proper hell – if they do not help Israel.
I’m not even joking. That’s exactly how the religious nutters in Congress think, and why they are not worried about the same terrifying things the rest of us are. After decades of being pumped full of the holy nitrous of evangelical religious teachings, they are seriously convinced that helping Israel balances the rest of their deeds in God’s books, and this is why Israel-centric legislation always gets passed before anything else.
So this attack on Israel, with Congress in disarray and completely unable to render the usual assistance, is scaring the everlivin’ fuck out of some very nasty pseudo-religious people tonight.
Enough even to make them want to bring the trash back into the House after having already taken it out.

I am so tired of living in a world with instantaneous access to lifetimes worth of documentary evidence regarding the atrocities brought forth on humanity via organized religion, and then watching otherwise rational minded people continue replicating the same behaviors without remorse or consideration for the consequences.

If the result is more cooperation between parties, that sounds good to me. The entire thing that got him ousted was certain far right members saying “you can’t work with the Democrats at all, no matter what,” which is one of the most fucked up, dysfunctional things I’ve heard out of our government in a while

Personally I don’t see a way back for American democracy barring a literal revolutionary movement in the conservative base that somehow…moderates them? And that’s just not what revolutionaries do, and misaligned with the GOP’s backers want.

White-passing Asian Jews have conditional white privilege that disappears as soon as someone realizes they’re Jewish, and obviously African Jews never get to be white, but white Jews are totally white and like many whites they steal valor from non-white people to make themselves feel less guilty about their white privilege.
Look at Israel’s businesses and politics; you’ll see mostly white faces. Israel is a white colony run by white people. Truly the 51st state.
The same could be said of the white portions lgtbq+ community, but you don’t see this Jew playing that card. I would appreciate if you didn’t insult me in such a way just as I try my best to give you that respect.
I don’t deny that I’m white or that I have white privilege. I would appreciate if white Jews would do the same.

Too bad Jews have legitimate claim to being a minority. As Jews, we can develop diseases that specifically only affect Jews, an example being tay-sachs and another being the “sensitive Jew stomach”.
Something else to consider is the enemy we have in common, Nazis, would love for you and everyone else to think that white passing Jews are just white because that helps to diminish Jewish culture and make us nothing. It helps remove our sense of self and belonging just like the christofacists and their “pray away the gay camps” do for your community.
I hope this message gives you reason to reconsider and cause to do some research into what I’m saying.
As for my white privilege, I hate but acknowledge that I have it and I gladly use it to help out anyone I can could needs a hand. Be an ally for us Jews just as most of us are for your community. Sorry for the others, bad apples in every batch I’m afraid.

Honestly, if he hadn’t smack talked them the day after they got that 45 day budget passed, they probably would back him. Hell, if we didn’t need to get the big budget passed in 45 days, they’d probably do it just to fuck with the Republicans. Or they could fuck with McCarthy by voting for him and making the GOP think he’s cut a secret deal with the Dems.
