  • I’d honestly prefer if they were locked up for one of the other crimes they have probably committed.

If you get locked up for “saying mean things to Democrats” (how they would refer to it), you can claim to be being persecuted for being a fascist Republican.

If they get locked up for DUI or sexual assault, it will be a little tougher to claim martyrdom.

Once they’re behind bars and abandoned, then bring the terrorism charges.

Edit: or, having read the article, throw him back in prison for the crimes for which he’s already admitted responsibility for.

  • So…

three times the amount of any pecuniary value gained by him or her from such violation.

    And…

Anything of value in the form of money, a negotiable instrument, a commercial interest, or anything else, the primary significance of which is economic advantage

So… to determine the value, we’d just need to calculate everything that Trump would be able to suck out of the country if he had managed to remain in office. We could use what was actually paid out during his presidency as a basis for determining that.

So, every penny paid to Trump directly, plus anything spent by the government in a Trump property used by him during his term. Including the numerous times he forced the government to pay him to house and feed his security detail and other government officials in his properties. Throw in anything his family got as well.

Get the total, triple it, and take that much as a fine.

Then throw his ass in jail.

It won’t happen, but it’s a nice fantasy.

I was only commenting on the concept of free will. Doesn’t matter where you apply it, we’re all just following our programming.

Obviously, the program is incredibly complex, otherwise the illusion of free will wouldn’t be so easy to believe.

However, there are many examples where the programming becomes apparent.

The best example of this is a radio lab episode about a woman with transient global amnesia. Her memory reset every 90 seconds, and she kept repeating the same conversation over and over for hours. Like a program stuck in a loop.

She couldn’t choose to say something else. Given the same input, she would repeat the same response every time. She didn’t have the ability to realize she had already said it, so she just kept looping.
