      Thailand is super great for a holiday, if you’re a relatively rich westerner, or if you don’t know the language.

      If you ask the locals, they’re likely to give you a different opinion.

        You don’t even need to be a rich westerner with the difference in economy. The average Thai you meet there assumes all western travelers are rich, especially those from the US, even though you may be considered middle class or even poor back here.

        edit: don’t ever tell a tuk driver you’re from the US, after that you will be taken to every scam shop they’re affiliated with.

        Are you speaking generally about how these type of vacation spot situations usually are, or are you informed about life as a thainlander specifically?

      A lot of the monarchy related part is tied to the nation’s politics. The monarchy seems to be the excuse for the Yellow Shirts to interfere with Thai democracy to meet their policy goals.
