    I came to this board to ask about a lot of videos not loading

    Looks like it’s people just mining Reddit.

    A shame that’s where a lot of the cute animal videos are posted.

    Thanks for illuminating the source of my unable to load video frustrations.

    I don’t care to see it get fixed, I have no need of giving that site any more attention, even if it means a few videos don’t work on lemmy.

    It would be nice if people shared their oc in a place not “to be sold” to the highest bidder later this year.

      I can’t say I mind Reddit being abused as a video CDN is particularly bad, but the reposters always pick shitty video quality for their posts for some reason.

      Sync and other apps are smart enough to stream the HD version of these links (or at least Sync tries to, but it’s currently bugged) but it looks like the reposters just right-click-copy-address the Reddit posts from the frontpage in their shitty preview quality.

    This has been annoying me too, and I realized the Reddit issue yesterday. Thanks for posting about it!

    My current workaround is to tap the ellipsis on the post, tab ‘open in browser’, and it goes directly to a playable video file.
