Summary

In Wayne County, Arab American precincts rejected Kamala Harris, with Biden receiving 82% of the vote in 2020 and Harris only 23% in 2024.

Trump’s outreach to Arab American and Muslim communities, including visits to Dearborn and Hamtramck, contributed to his increased support.

Harris’s performance in Dearborn, where she received only 13% of the vote in the south end, reflects the backlash against Biden’s handling of foreign policy in the Middle East.

Harris refused to take a stand against Israel so why should they vote for her?

Why are they selfish? Because they didn’t vote how YOU wanted? Who’s being selfish here?

This is the thing I can stand least about liberals. They’re the smartest, most moral people in the world and anyone who doesn’t vote their way for any reason is stupid and bad

“Voting 3rd party or sitting out during the election basically cedes the election to one of two parties. We should at least choose the party that has a better chance to be swayed against genocide than the one who openly advocates for the genociders to ‘finish the job’”

        “L1b3RaL!!1!a”

I’m not saying liberals are the smartest and most moral people, they definitely aren’t. But dismissing reality of the American political system and the almost certain likelihood of the US presidential election to vote for neither of the two main parties and expecting something good to come out of it is pretty telling to one’s critical thinking skills.

I voted for Dems to defund the war in 06. They didn’t. I voted for Obama to bring troops home, close Guantanamo, and give us a public option in 08. He didn’t. So what’s the point of voting for the the winner???

Welcome to the reality of politics. Don’t like it? You have a few options: Get involved in activism, or run for office yourself by starting at the local level and work your way up. Want a formidable 3rd left-leaning party? Bolster the numbers of SPUSA, SPA, or any other ones that flew under the radar. We can also organize ways to kick the milquetoast centrists and moderate-right out of the democratic party. Hell, I wouldn’t be opposed to muddying the waters among Republicans since there’s already a lot of pushback regarding trumps choices for cabinet members and such.

Whining about every problems without finding solutions makes you sound immature and pathetic. If it really bothers you, action speaks louder than words. Do something about it.

Nowhere in my explanation suggests that. If you knew how politics works, you’d understand that activism can encourage more people to vote. Hell, I suggested supporting 3rd parties. Can’t do that without voting.

Too many people in this thread think they know better about the average voter. Most Americans don’t actually give a shit about politics. It’s getting them to care is the problem. Most people in the USA are too fucking stupid for their own good. Most of the people in this thread are too sensitive to realize they are part of the problem. Arab Americans aren’t directly responsible for Trump’s win but they contributed to it by holding out their votes on a single issue. If both candidates were literally the same as each other besides their stance on Gaza then I can see the logic of not voting for one over the other or abstaining. This was not the case. Most of you trying to act like Harris should have come out and promise to personally stop the genocide don’t realize that the Jewish population in America controls more money, power and influence than the Arab vote. So both sides are going to go out of their way to support Israel. You pearl clutchers don’t get this.

That’s a roundabout way to say you consider them selfish for not voting for a candidate they believe will keep the genocide of their relatives going.

You want to consider both sides the same when they are not. Are Democrats perfect? No. Are they a better alternative? Yes. Setting aside the ongoing issue of Israel and Palestine and whether or not either state should exist (Hint: it’s likely neither, but Israel does have a more historical claim), the issue WITHIN AMERICA is that Trump and his cronies want to install a slew of right wing fascists into positions of power WITHIN AMERICA. Yet stupid assholes like you want to concern yourself with whats going on in a foreign country when shit is going bad right here. Get your head out of your ass.

Setting aside the exact issue we’re talking about?

            No.

And no, having left an area 2,000 years ago does not give you the right to genocide the people who stayed.

Go read about it then. Sorry not sorry that Jews, Egyptians, Italians, French and English have a greater claim to the area than any Arab speaking peoples, Palestinian or otherwise. If you want to ignore history then just shut the fuck up.
