"The reasoning for bringing in AI tools to monitor patients is always that it will make life easier for us, but in my experience, technology in healthcare rarely makes things better. It usually just speeds up the factory floor, squeezing more out of us, so they can ultimately hire fewer of us. " - yup and there’s not much we can do about it without harming a lot of people.
I kind of like all the unsolicited junk mail. I use it weekly to line the bottom of all my parrot cages.
I’ll fully admit that I was unaware of the Texas Castle Doctrine law. That would in fact be an interesting angle to pursue if hospitals had a backbone. But I will stick by my opinion that hospitals will refuse to treat these women as the laws stand now because they will never risk any chance at litigation to save a mother’s life.
While this would in theory work for justifying the actions of the mother it does nothing to help enable medical professionals in providing care. The court ruling basically tells all medical professionals that they may not perform abortions for any reason. It’s a death sentence pure and simple and now the hospitals are only allowed to sit back and watch.
Now this is a quality shit post! Happy New Year and thanks for all the laughs.
I love how the article makes it sound like she signed herself out AMA. I am certain they left her to rot in the waiting room for hours each time until she gave up on waiting and went home. You don’t have to sign AMA papers to leave and the hospital can still write it up that way (and charge your insurance).
Can someone Photoshop this to say Microsoft because that’s exactly how I feel at work.
Omg yes!!! I was just ranting the other day that all these drug shortages should come with consequences to the companies. (Looking at you Ozempic) If you can’t produce enough of your drug to keep up with demand then other companies should get a chance at making it. It shouldn’t be the patients that have to suffer.
I was shocked a few weeks ago that I had to get an assistant override for buying DayQuil. I mean I guess it makes sense but I would have gone through a regular cashier lane if I had known. They should be able to scan your ID considering most of them have cameras on them now.
Something I learned taking college microbiology was that if you reuse towels for drying off make sure one end (like the end with the tag) is dedicated for your bottom half and the other for the top. That way you don’t accidentally get your genital flora in your eyes/face.
I worked at a mom and pop hardware store in college. I learned more practical information there than I did in school. I even got good enough to sell power tools, mowers, and chainsaws. We didn’t get commission or anything like that but it was a point of pride to be able to answer customers questions and make a sale.
There is no greater ad on the planet like the pißwasser commercial in gta4.

Birds are extremely sensitive to the fumes given off by Teflon and will die. So no Teflon anything in the house.
This really isn’t funny anymore. This is just another incident that proves that the Republicans can inject whatever information they want at any time and their followers will eat this shit up. How do we as a society enforce consequences for such blatant misinformation and panic inducing behavior?
I have parrots so no telfon anything in my house. Bought two Green Pan ceramic skillets fairly cheap and they are still going strong a decade later. Definitely don’t use metal utensils in them.
Thank God we were genuinely worried about him.
I just want you to know that those of us who make these things for a living hate them too. By the time the stakeholders gets done with their “input” all the cool shit we wanted to do to make them tolerable and maybe even fun is out the window.
That woman is my hero.
