  • the whole genocide thing

No informed voter thought Trump would be better for Palestine than Kamala. Remember, people say one thing publicly when their private reasons are actually less popular.

The conservative Muslims who claimed they loved Palestine voted for Republicans because they are conservative. They are using the Palestinian people as political pawns, just like Hamas. They share conservative values with Republicans based on cultural issues. They differ on the justification for it, but they are all supporters of hierarchy. Same with conservative Latinos.

It’s not popular to say “I like hierarchy and I want to be on top”. Many supporters of hierarchy claim they love “individual rights” when they really want privileges for themselves. That’s the reason why some people love the “Bill of Rights” but hate equality.

  • Interesting points. Although endless growth may still continue, because eventually robots will be more affordable than human workers. Not because robots become cheaper, but because humans are more expensive.

I’m not some pie-in-the-sky future nut. I know the main issue is the short term problems. Like what do we do for the unemployed worker who can’t afford somewhere to live and has no investments? How can we deal with negative externalities like pollution and climate change?

These are the real challenges. Robots that talk to you and perform tasks are easy by comparison.

  • “Baghdad Bob” memes

Those didn’t exist. You’re confusing “memes” created by individual people and media bias.

we glossed over how precarious and unsustainable our charge into the center of Iraq had left the US military

The US military destroyed the Iraqi army, almost too well. The army was disbanded and former members joined the insurgents. Militarily it was a huge success. The failure was not gaining the consent of the governed, which is necessary in any modern country.

News reports are not “trying to present Russia as weak”. They legitimately are weak. Do you think the US or NATO would have any trouble rolling Ukraine if it only had Russian support? No troops would be on the ground but Kiev would be rubble within two weeks.

  • Speaking of entitled cheapskates, most of the good content is older shows not new ones. Most of these streaming providers are coasting on shows and movies made before they existed.

I don’t care about the “cost of new shows” because most of them suck. Just because you have a big CGI budget doesn’t mean you made a good show. Not only that, but good new shows are all cancelled after one or two seasons.

The reason for this is obvious: creating a new show adds another “square” on the Netflix screen. Adding more seasons to an old show doesn’t. Plus you can advertise “new show” and people will just watch to see what it is. Viewers need to stop watching things just because they’re “new”.
