I will second this, I could never bother with the effort that is required to do wire floss correctly but I got a waterpik and I was able to do it regularly. I’m now to the point that I can use the highest pressure level without causing any gum bleeding so it’s still strengthens your gums because 10 is nasty (on the countertop model)
It’s funny because as somebody that’s been using Linux full-time for over 10 years I actually really really really really hate that Ubuntu is considered beginner friendly because I often find very very simple tasks incredibly frustrating on it.
I know that everybody disagrees with me but I genuinely think that something based on arch like Endeavor OS is genuinely more beginner friendly. You don’t have to fight with repositories to get up to date drivers, virtually any piece of software you could ever want is either already in the extra/community repo or available through the Aur. And while yes it is possible that an update could end up causing an issue on your system Pac-Man is just way way better about not completely destroying the system and it is pretty easy to roll back. Even in a really really bad worst case scenario booting from a live USB and rolling back with chroot is easy enough I’ve actually walked people through it before.
Meanwhile the amount of times on both Debian and Ubuntu that I have had apt completely eviscerate a system just trying to do basic updates and then just bail out Midway leaving the system so broken that the terminal barely functions anymore is frustrating. And there’s no particularly easy path to fixing that because dpkg is a fucking nightmare. Yes in the majority of those cases the system was multiple years out of date but that’s no excuse I have updated art systems that were upwards of almost 10 years out of date and other than me having to manually update the key ring and reinitialize the signatures it was able to Simply jump right to the latest just fine.
The solution is to stop drinking any liquids like 4 hours before bed and pee right before bed. That way you can just become dehydrated overnight which means that when you wake up you will want water desperately which will help you get your ass out of bed too
Id hardly call that a user fucking things up, that’s not even good on paper. Those are a retarded pair of things to have next to one another regardless of any coloring on them. Especially with the same handles
Me being tech support is WHY i said that. I told my family either use Linux or leave me alone. Half of them let me install Linux and I’ve not needed to do anything in years. They are basic users aka open chrome and nothing else and unlike windows Linux doesn’t constantly kill itself over time.
I occasionally ssh in to make sure updates are still working and once to setup a new printer remotely but that’s it
I think you mean sudo pacman -Syu mesa
I didn’t realize that next Cloud was so bad, might I recommend people having issues try Seafile? Also open source and I’ve been using it for many years without issues. It doesn’t have as many features and it doesn’t look as shiny but it’s rock solid
Have a random meme from my instance
If all you want is files and sharing try Seafile
It’s not even is the same ballpark as dc batteries. Charging a battery is 93-97% efficient as is the use of that power so overall efficiency stays above 90%. Hydrogen average 40-60% overall efficiency. It ONLY makes sense when using 100% renewable.
Especially in situations where it’s otherwise wasted. California has been curtailing massive amounts of solar each year, dumping the extra into hydrogen would be amazing
ToS have almost universally been shown to be unenforceable in court. I’m also not sure what the hell you mean by customers would lose trust. It’s not as if they had access to information they shouldn’t, all they did was reverse engineer the protocol. They still had to have an account and a login and they still only had access to the data that account should have. There’s nothing to lose trust over the only thing beeper was doing was emulating being an iMessage client
The irony of this bot is that pipelinks actually prevent me from using Libre tube because it’s not possible for it to register for every instance out there on Android. YouTube links actually let me use piped more easily
I’ve tried lots of others, both during the Reddit days and now during the Lemmy days. None of them let me get the exact layout I want other than sync. But that’s just like my opinion
Almost all of them do it, the one most fresh in my mind is the Prius because my work uses them as base cards so I drive them a lot. If the highway curves kind of hard to either the left or the right sometimes it will panic and think you’re about to hit the car in the lane next to you because they’re technically in front of you and so it will try to brake.
Thankfully there is an option to turn off the automatic braking it will just start screaming instead
The auto cruise on the Priuses at work do this a lot. If the freeway curves to the left or something it will panic and think I’m about to hit the cars in the lane next to me also going through the Curve
Almost no major company can, have you seen how much the US subsidizes oil and gas despite their profits? How much we subsidize food production? Renewable technology such as wind and solar is only becoming so vastly popular because we’re heavily subsidizing it finally.
Don’t get me wrong fuck Elon musk, but don’t kid yourself and pretend like most companies wouldn’t fail without subsidies. That includes other internet companies which we subsidize regularly
You should attempt to read the message again, I did not say Do not advocate for linux. I said do not pointlessly change the workflow. Gnome is a massive UI departure from windows and a workflow shift. Which is just completely unnecessary for the average person and just makes the transition hard for no reason.
I mean I was with you in the first half, I also tell my family either to use it I’m used to or don’t ask me for help. But I would not be so rude as to put gnome on it and force them to learn a completely different workflow.
Especially when 99.9% of what they do is in a web browser there’s no reason to change anything on them. I just used KDE plasma as it’s already extremely Windows 7 like in layout right out of the box couple more tweaks to make it a little more Windows 10 like and they don’t have to relearn a bunch of shit.
They don’t need to know how to install things, I have a tray applet helper for handling updates all they have to do is Click yes, doesn’t matter if they understand the differences between Windows and that. They just need to be able to open the web browser, open libreoffice, and occasionally click print. There’s no reason for me to force them into an entirely different workflow.
I’m glad that your mother figured it out and seems to be doing well, but to me it just feels like an unnecessary change
