I don’t think he actually has as much power as people are implying. I think the reason he was able to influence this election was because most undecided voters didn’t like either candidate very much, and so having someone like Joe Rogan sit down with Trump and humanize him was something that probably had a noticeable effect.
I think that if Harris had actually run a campaign that actually addressed the needs of the average person she would’ve won easily and we’d be laughing at the fact that Trump was so desperate for votes he went on Joe Rogan.
Absolutely. Bernie Sanders is incredibly popular (on both sides) and Joe Rogan actually endorsed him in 2020. All this talk about Joe Rogan winning the election for republicans is hilarious when you think about it.
This is something a lot of libs need to understand imo.
You can rail on about how Trump is going to end democracy until the cows come home, it’s never going to sway voters. The average person is not doing very well and prospects look really bad for young people and democrats are refusing to acknowledge that things are broken. They are promising the status quo - and the status quo fucking sucks.
I just took a look and it seems fine. Way easier to access messages which is the main reason I use discord on my phone. I thought the UI was shit to begin with so it’s hard for them to do worse.
I suggest you do more research, it’s far from asinine. It may seem very strange to someone who has lived their entire life in a car centric city but these ideas have been applied in many cities successfully. The results are a healthier and happier populace.
Ah yes, there’s nothing more organic than demolishing black neighborhoods to build highways.
Bruh my family would make costco trips and absolutely pack the car with groceries, I’m talking trunk full to the ceiling. That shit takes 5 minutes tops to unload with everyone helping. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill. If raising a family without a car is so difficult then why can so many people manage it fine in other countries?
Strong Towns baybeeeee. As far as I know they recommend starting from the town center and working outwards.
You can’t fix a suburb without demolishing it but you can revitalize areas that we’re built pre-cars. Allow mixed use development in the town center with bike lanes and public transportation. Remove parking minimums and other unnecessary barriers to development. These types of development bring in much more higher revenue which can then be reinvested into further changes.
Iterative change is possible, don’t give up!
How many people live a 5 minute walk from a grocery store?
That’s part of what we want to change. I live a 3 min walk from the grocery store and it’s fucking glorious. Better designed cities are better for everyone.
A perfect self-driving car is still way worse than a robust public transportation system. People are starting to catch on to the fact that cars are pretty fucking annoying/dangerous and hoping on a train/bus is less stressful. By the time self-driving is completely ready a significant portion of people are not going to want them.
Yeah I’m mega anti-car and not at all optimistic about self-driving but this article says very little of substance.
Man wouldn’t it suck if America was covered in asphalt and gridlock?
In general, I find that speed limits are more effective when they are accompanied with the actual infrastructure
This is a known phenomenon. The solutions you mention are part of whats called traffic calming and they are very effective.
You drive 100km down residential streets every day? Main roads will not have this speed limit.
At those speeds you might as well not even bother with a car.
That’s kind of the point. Cars are horribly inefficient at moving people, terrible for the environment, and turn cities into dangerous and awful places to be.
Lowering the speed limit saves lives, whether or not it feels slow should be irrelevant.

I got docked points on my test for going 30 in a residential zone. I didn’t fail and I know the tester is just doing their job but daaamn. Encouraging a 17 year old kid to go 50 down side streets with only enough space for a single car, interesting strategy.
17 is way too young to be driving in the first place, but that’s another conversation.
Trust me, we are laughing. Especially at people making comments like yours.
Why are people on this website so obsessed with defending the democratic party. I don’t understand what they are trying to accomplish.
