Sri Lankans (of all varieties - complicated history) have elected a left leaning coalition. It’s very unusual the majority of every “section” of Sri Lanka to throw their support behind the same candidate / party (again - historical reasons.)

The difference in UK/US (amongst other first language English nations) pronunciation is something I know effects hip-hop lyricism (i.e. rapping) as different pronunciations mean some words only rhyme in your own dialect.

That’s certainly one opinion - which you’re more than entitled to hold. Personally I don’t get the connotations that you do. I see it as a subversion of Musk’s overt sycophancy vis a vis Trump’s (completely unwarranted) strong man persona clothed in a parody of a TradCon nuclear family. It’s art - there’s often more than one interpretation. Sometimes deliberately so.

I mean, yeah that’s mostly all true; but you’re kind of missing the point. Alphabet created the ad-soaked centralised monopoly you describe. They obviously shut down Google Video pretty quickly after buying YouTube. They bought-out or strangled competitors, leveraging their SE dominance, to get to where they are now, which is offering small pockets of content scattered about in an advertising platform. Alphabet knew what kind of monster they wanted to create and set about doing it. More adverts equals more profit. Profit must increase year on year. That’s how it works. I don’t begrudge Alphabet trying to fleece everybody - it’s how capitalism operates. I just don’t buy into the “good old Google letting me watch stuff for (almost) free” mantra.
I think one of the moral (?) objections to paying for YouTube versus paying for streaming services is that a streaming service actually creates (some) original content whereas YouTube merely hosts other people’s content. YouTube is only a facilitator and (ironically) not a creator. All of its content (both original and unoriginal) is produced by money that isn’t YouTube’s. They take zero risk and expect maximum returns.
IMO They’re just small humans and like their larger counterparts some are worth my time and some aren’t. You sound ageist. My partner hates kids, much like you, but has slowly become fond of a select few we know. I’ve never really minded kids - but I’ve always been able to hand them back as I don’t have any of my own.

Uh, I may have been over confident there. Apologies. I asked in a football/work groupchat last night. About a quarter of people knew what it meant (17/83). They’re all spread out across the UK. No real pattern.

Good luck debating this topic. Even on a sight such as this it is way too divisive a question. You don’t have to support either side - it’s not a sports contest. There is too much history and backstory to make a snap decision. It’s just more death and misery for innocent folk on both sides whilst the fanatics (Hardliners, extremists etc.) on both sides try to wipe each other out.
I hope they never walk past a church…
