  • Ignore Hamas. Read the infamous report from the US that was used by Israel as evidence they weren’t committing genocide. The report cleared Israel, and so it was used as a defense.

    But actually read the report.

According to the US / Israel, they’re holding up food, making it difficult to access, making it get stuck in transit, making it get lost, making zero effort to facilitate / distribute, making it dangerous for people to solve it themselves, etc.

But they never triggered the video game-like definition of genocide. They didn’t use god-like powers to absolutely withhold food. They didn’t declare “I’m doing a genocide.” Technically some people could eat sometimes, and some pencil pusher can’t change definitions on the fly, therefore no genocide.

    Who cares about being antisemitic?

I’m a proud antisemite; I think Israel shouldn’t commit genocide.

I am a huge sinophobe; I think uyghurs shouldn’t be “reeducated.”

I fucking hate Canadians; first nations got screwed.

I hate all Arabs and muslims; kashnoggi shouldn’t have been cut into pieces.

I hate white people; we need to fix inequality.

I’m a traitor to my country; I think it could be improved.

    I’m a devil worshipper; I like D&D.

  • Ads have started to straight up break the internet for me. I can go to websites and they’ll complain about my ad blocker, and the only help I get is “disable your extensions.” I don’t even have any extensions! No ad block! But sites still curl up and die on me.

Is it because my browser is hardened? Is it Linux? Do I have to fork over private data to use a site and if I don’t they pretend the issue is ad blockers?

  • People trying to discuss the topic have their posts pushed down while “lmao nfts” are voted up. How do you see someone saying, respectfully, “I think there’s a benefit to this.” and try to push down their contribution?

Anyone who wants a good discussion about news in this community, must leave this community. If you want to add context or opposing perspectives, better go elsewhere. You build a community like this and you get people who know Hans had a vibrator, because jokes and legit opinions are treated as interchangable.

  • An important difference is that cruise control is simpler to understand. It’s a basic mechanic dressed up as a driver aid. A smaller slice of the population will incorrectly use cruise control.

FSD is a driver aid dressed up as… well, “Full Self-Driving.” It’s not Full, and it’s not Self-Driving. It’s mostly functional in limited circumstances and even then requires driver attention.

I think another good example is how people would never allow a Stasi agent to live in their house, unless the Stasi agent was redefined as a slew of websites, a collection of disparate laws, and multiple steps involving technology.

  • I tried to get a summary with an llm

The article explains how Russia has managed to evade Western sanctions on its oil sector by using a network of intermediaries and shell companies to sell its crude oil to China, India and other countries. The article estimates that Russia has earned about $11 billion from these transactions since 2022, despite being under US and EU sanctions for its annexation of Crimea and involvement in the war in Ukraine. The article also reveals how Russia has used its state-owned oil company Rosneft and its subsidiary RN-Exploration to explore and develop oil fields in Venezuela, Iran and Syria, which are also under US sanctions.

The article claims that these activities have helped Russia maintain its influence and leverage in the global oil market, as well as its political and military alliances with these countries. The article cites several sources, including US officials, analysts, traders and documents, to support its findings.

The article concludes by saying that the US and its allies have failed to curb Russia’s oil ambitions, and that the sanctions have had little impact on Russia’s economy or its ability to finance its military operations
