I have a coworker whose maiden name is Dykes. She was very happy to change.
I am Stine. Comfort the afflicted. Afflict the comfortable. High School Wrestler™. Can usually correctly use the past tense in French. Suffers from clinical depression. @stinerman@mastodon.social on Mastodon.

Linux copyrights are owned by many different people, so it would be prohibitively difficult to ask every person to agree to a GPLv3 change. Even if you could, Linus Torvalds is not a fan of the v3 license.
They’ve already said that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment doesn’t exist.
Legally he’s only got 2 terms. However as my government teacher explained, the constitution says what the Supreme Court says it says. So who knows what they’ll say about it.
I’m beginning to think you might be trolling based on your responses. In case I’m wrong…
The simple answer to your question was that people who voted in the Democratic Party primary didn’t want him to be their nominee. Of course you’re asking why.
In 2020, Sanders had the lead and the party leaders decided “guys, we can’t run a Socialist Jew against Donald Trump, so we need to pick a candidate and go with him.” A ton of people vying for the nomination dropped out and endorsed Biden. Their supporters voted according to the endorsements and we ended up getting Joe Biden.
ETA: To be clear the Democratic Party is a private organization and they can do whatever they want. It’s completely within their rights to say “we need to stop Bernie Sanders” and put in action a plan to do just that.
Unless the friend has training as a microbiologist or something similar their belief is inconsequential. And even then they would be in the vast minority in their field (like a geologist that believes oil doesn’t come from the heat and compression of ancient organic matter).
A lot of people are afraid of new things they don’t understand. The hope is that people realize that the fear is irrational and listen to experts in the relevant field.
Some people have a lot of disposable income and don’t care that their $7 meal at Taco Bell costs $17 to get it delivered, too. I think it’s a bit crazy but it’s their money.
I challenge you to a quaff-off!
This is like that time that I won like $800 betting that Trump would lose the election after he lost the election.
They play Killing in the Name at Columbus Blue Jackets games all the time and it cracks me up. I wonder what they think “Some of those who work forces are the same that burn crosses” means.
I find that there’s more actual discussion here. On Mastodon most replies are people just agreeing with the OP. That also means people butt heads more. I have found people to be nice here.
I never used Reddit, so I can’t say how different it is compared to Reddit.
Happy Xmas (War is Over) by John and Yoko.
I didn’t intend to imply that it was porn.
Agreed. I highly doubt these people really believe the shit they’re trying to sell. They just know if you’re going to grift, the best way to do it is on the right.
Winning actually doesn’t require hard work because my goal is to steal as much money/time as I can from my employer until I retire.
I’m not sure it’s as big of a deal with Lemmy. Threads data doesn’t map very well into Lemmy and vice versa. Like with Mastodon, I can read this post and comment on it, but it’s not really a great way to interact. I think it’s a bigger deal on the Mastodon/Calckey/etc side. If IG/FB federate then it becomes a different story, IMO.
This is extremely not a thing that police should be dealing with. If someone really has “porn” at school it can be dealt with at school. Plus it’s not illegal for minors to possess porn. There are so many things wrong with this.
Colorado Republican Primary ballot for sure. I haven’t read the decision, but that was the immediate effect.
I don’t think there’s any way the SCOTUS will let this stand.
Yes. Mastodon is a product of Mastodon gGmbH. He is the BDFL (Benevolent Dictator for Life) of the software. Anyone can fork the software if they so choose and make their own.
What I think @Foni@lemm.ee is trying to get at is that Mastodon is a non-profit and doesn’t have investors looking to make a return like Bluesky does. Mastodon is driven entirely by donations.
