Except for a handful of states that passed legislation to prevent it, the 13th amendment makes an exception allowing involuntarily servitude as the punishment for committing crimes. If they manage to create a kangaroo court designed to be a revolving door of convictions for “illegal immigrants”, they absolutely could keep people effectively locked up as slaves for a while.
The turnout of Democratic voters was lower than it should have been. There are too many variables at play to make any conclusion, but it’s safe to assume that the number of voters who abstained due to the issue was more than zero.

I’m inclined to agree. If an entity is wasting hundreds of millions on a couple of consultants, the problem isn’t the consultants. It’s the people who decided that was a perfectly acceptable expense. If the DNC willingly takes on that debt, they’re not any better.
