Russia started the Ukraine war in 2014 by attacking Crimea. Then they escalated the war in 2022 by attacking all of Ukraine.
No other escalations have happened. Claiming that it has is typical russotroll bullshit.
escalations are escalations, justifiable or not.

This poster made 80 posts in less than the last 24 hours spreading various Russian propaganda points. lol totally organic. Lemmy hitting the big leagues.

russia is an actual nazi state.
Oh wait. I forgot you said we werent bla bla bla.
By what measure? If we’re including the Soviet Union’s efforts during WW2, along with the fight in Ukraine, Russia has literally killed more Nazis than any country in history.
By the Soviet Union’s efforts you mean Ukraine’s efforts under the soviet banner right?
Major eastern offensive performed by over a million ukrainian conscripts.
Soviet forces being composed of over 4.5 Million Ukrainians with nearly 1 Million additional Ukrainian partisans against the Nazis? Largely outnumbering the pitiful 250,000 Ukrainian supporters of the Nazis.
I’d also remind you that these are the accomplishments of a United Soviet Union held together by the suffering of satellite states like Ukraine. Not the efforts of the withering shadow of a cumstain that remains known as Russia.

I think Ukrainians are erecting statues of people who fought for their liberation. We can villainise them from the outside and one day a more progressive Ukraine will be able to speak to that more.
As of right now, Russian aggression prevents Ukraine from being able to move forward and discuss their bloody history because their present is still bloody thanks to Russia.

Which proves what?
So, the West is Nazis and Russia is the great savior? Got it.
Come on then if you think you’re hard enough
Hitting London with a ballistic missile would bring the rents down. Maybe this is a good thing.
Well it would likely put them up, seeing as it would remove supply but, if you know Londoners you’ll know it won’t do a damn thing about demand.
At least they have good public transportation. But yeah, anyone making less than £100,000 a year, good luck finding anywhere with a train commute of under an hour.
We moved into a home county. I grew up in London, but it’s just too expensive. We could have gotten a place there, but it would not be a good one, not be in a good area and likely be beyond our personal budget (the banks would give us the money, we wouldn’t accept it).
Not regretting it at all really.
As a bonus, London is no more
These things aren’t accurate enough to hit much so as long as he puts conventional warheads on it like he did for Dnipro, it won’t do much.
Please do it Putin. WE want the excuse, NATO wants the excuse, Poland’s
chompingchamping at the bit for the excuse and we really want to see how long it takes them to rush Moscow.Edit: damn it Lemmy, I’m an engineer not a dictionary.
Pushes glasses in It’s actually “champing.”
Didn’t know this, thanks!
“My subscribers are pogchamping me, Simperial. Can you say the same?”
How do horses “champ” at their bit?
Champ is the older spelling of chomp. They mean the same thing. At some point a shift in pronunciation occurred and spelling has reflected that, but the older version has been preserved in the phrase “champ at the bit”
Thanks, Champ!
Oh so fan0m was being a pedantic arse.
Yes
I may be wrong but I think it may be more pedantic to argue that the incorrect pronunciation of a common phrase should be accepted due to pedantry is more pedantic?
/pedantry
Exuberantly, with a shade of impetuousness
Language evolves.
Skibidi chomp
Chomping at the skibidi?
fr fr no chomp
Lukashenko: why are there troops with wings sprayed on their vehicles massing near my border?
Poland: Just a regular training, nothing to worry about
THEN THE WINGED HUSSARS ARRIVED
Which is exactly why he’s not going to, and everyone knows it. This is to look strong for his own domestic audience.
The threat that’s actually for us is the one about arming it’s own anti-Western proxies, and it did indeed make us think twice for a few months.
WE want the excuse, NATO wants the excuse
Are you ready to enlist?
Sure, with my skillset I’ll be designing and building drones by the 1000s. If that is what is required to stop a tyrant from threatening Europe hand me a long brown overcoat, hat, cigarette, and FRSKY radio transmitter!
Edit: I should emphasize, I’d rather not fight if not necessary. I’d rather be in my current job creating equipment for infrastructure that will power the green energy transition.
However, I have studied history and there are times where conflict is unavoidable especially when dealing with power mad dictators. The countries of Europe deserve to live in peace to find their own paths without the threat to their borders and sovereignty. Russia itself deserves a government that works for everyone not just the dozen oligarchs in Moscow.
Oh and for the record, fuck US imperialism (though they are a NATO ally) and fuck the CCP, yes you tankies can fuck off as well.
So you’ve signed up by tomorrow then right? Expect you back in here with proof or you could stfu.
Why? Have I managed to miss the triggering of Article 5, the emergency NATO meetings, the declaration of war, and the conscription order?
Blimey, I really overslept.
Goodness gracious your responses to these Russian trolls are entertaining, keep it up!
How very brave of you.
I’ll go back just to fuck Putin.
I know this is a joke, but some people might actually have this mindset and that is very very dangerous.
Boys on the internet want it, but they won’t join in

Fighting for Ukraine against the head oligarch of Russia? Yes.
Fighting for oil interests of oligarchs in Londongrad? No.
Dear Mr Putin,
Please don’t TARGET BLACKPOOL. It would be a huge waste of a missile as there isn’t any SECRET GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS IN BLACKPOOL. Let me be clear, we’ll respond with a strongly worded letter if you AIM FOR BLACKPOOL. It will cost us tens of pounds to repair the damage, and we simply haven’t got enough money left after giving billions to various government contractors.
Kind regards, Someone that has been to Blackpool
I cannot wait for the old fart to fart his last fart.
Fun fact, gut bacteria continue living for a while after the host is dead. So the last fart will be posthumous.
Do you think they mourn our passing?
They mourn by passing
They mourn our passing with gas passing
(mournful pffft squeaaaak noises)
Blowing up the Brits is a nice olive branch, but I think we’ll need more commitment if we want a lasting peace deal
Please end our suffering (as a Brit)
As a Brit, I approve of this message.
Reminder that World War 2 had a gradual unfolding of declarations of war across several months or longer, depending on how you want to fuck that pig. I think we’re already in the onset of WWIII, in some sense.
The thing is, if NATO is worth anything at all. Hitting a NATO country would bring a lot of declarations in a very short order. It would get very WW3, very quickly.
Same way you go bankrupt; slowly, and then all at once.
That’s assuming Europe wasn’t economically stretched already, and America didn’t have an incoming president who wasn’t more interested in fellating Putin.
Europe isn’t nearly so financially stretched as Russia, and its economy is an order of magnitude bigger.
Europe hasn’t even started stretching. The fact it refuses to is the reason it looks stretched.
Even if there’s financial concerns in Europe. We DO have reasonably strong airforces, modern weaponry and several nuclear enabled countries. I think it would be a big risk to take in their current position.
My main concern is Trump tries to coerce Europe to leave Ukraine to fight alone. It all depends on how much in Putin’s pocket he is.
He’s so far in Putin’s pocket that he’s snuggling up to his nutsack.
and America didn’t have an incoming president who wasn’t more interested in fellating Putin.
That is a bit of a wildcard, isn’t it.
I’m not sure we’re on a path to WWIII if it’s Russia vs everyone else. If China decides to get involved then maybe but I don’t see any evidence they’re willing to throw in with Putin, same with Iran.
There’s a 100% chance that Trump will send troops to Iran in the next year.
No there’s not. Where are you getting this absolute certainty from?
Trump’s relationship with Netanyahu and the relationship between Israel and Iran.
That doesn’t necessarily equate to there being a 100% certainty of boots on the ground in Iran though, does it?
The Israeli government pushed for “judicial reform” last year prior to the war with Palestine. People were saying that they were doing it in order to go into Palestine and then the big attack by Hamas happened and gave them an excuse. Tensions with Iran and Israel have escalated when Israel assassinated a Hamas leader in Iran over the summer and Iran responded with missile attacks on Israel. I believe that after Trump takes office there will be something that happens that will be “the last straw.” Maybe it will be “WMDs”, hiding Hamas leaders, or some big attack by Iran. It’s going to happen.
I’m still not sure why you’re so certain about this. You’re speculating that something might happen and yet you said that there’s a “100%” chance of US boots on the ground in Iran.
As awful as Trump is, his first term wasn’t nearly as hawkish at that of other republican presidents.
That’s terrifying because WW3 risks the use of nuclear weapons and every model of nuclear exchange that has been run always escalates to mutual assured destruction with billions dead and the end of civilization.
I just finished listening to the audiobook of Nuclear War: A scenario by Annie Jacobsen. Highly recommend it.
Civilization’s kinda shit anyway. We had a
goodrun.gg guys, see you all next millennium.
The real slippery slopes are graded much less steeply than you’d expect
Are we in the Spanish Civil War type pre-phase of WWII?
This is what I have been saying too. I think we will look back on this time and refer to it as the start of ww3.
Also technology is completely different than it ever has been. Like there was not a big tome or tech difference between ww1 and ww2. So a modern world war would look completely different making it difficult to identify.
So far it’s been lots more grenade drones and cyber warfare than you got in the 20th century. Asymmetry is the name of the game, aside from urban positional fighting and more traditional focus on logistics and supply lines.
Just keep rattlin’ that sabre, buddy.
Oh yeah, it was Tuesday yesterday.
Bring it.
This is “threatens the uk” :
“We consider ourselves entitled to use our weapons against military facilities of those countries that allow their weapons to be used against our facilities.”
“We consider ourselves entitled to use our weapons against what we say we believe to be military facilities of those countries that allow their weapons to be used against our facilities.”
The important unsaid part needs to be in there. Whether an opponent actually puts military installations inside civilian locations or not (generally a bad move), this gives war criminals carte blanche to bomb whatever they feel like.
Not sure it’s helpful to imagine words that were not said, but that still a warning not a threat.
Welcome to geopolitics. The whole world runs on unsaid statements and ulterior motives. Up is down and down is up.
While also considering others to be not entitled to do the same.
Because Russia has been so good at only hitting military facilities in Ukraine so far.
So the UK thought they could support western provided missiles launched into Russia, and there wouldn’t be any consequences for that?
Western leaders really have the attitude of children who think war is something that happens on tv.
Let’s keep escalating until WW3 breaks out…yeah!
Yeah tell putin to get the hell out of Ukraine and there is no more “escalation”.
Sure let me call him and tell him that.
Conflict is over as soon as Putin leaves Ukraine.
Nukes are going to be flying soon and WW3 will start with this thinking! Diplomacy failed in 2022 now its Russian territory. We treat this war as a reactionary spasm instead of taking precautionary steps to stop these wars before they start.
Yes Ivan.
Well “that’ll fix the economy”
